Careers
We hire high-performing university students and recent graduates to tutor 1-to-1 online, backed by a platform that handles the rest.
Fraley Tutors is a specialist maths and physics tutoring agency. Our students are serious — most are working toward GCSE, A-Level, IB, or competitive university entrance exams. They expect a high standard of teaching, and we expect our tutors to deliver it.
In return, we pay well, handle the admin, and give you a platform that removes most of the friction from tutoring. You spend your time teaching; our infrastructure tracks lessons, grades homework, and manages scheduling and pay.
If that sounds like work you'd take seriously, read on.
We're specialist, not general. We tutor maths and physics, and we hire tutors who know those subjects deeply.
In maths, physics, or a heavily quantitative degree. You excelled at the level you're tutoring, not just passed through it.
You can work through an A-Level mechanics problem and, more importantly, explain what makes it hard, where students get stuck, and how to guide a 17-year-old to the answer without just handing it over.
Tutors who cancel last-minute or ghost messages don't last with us. We give our tutors real support; we expect the same back for students.
Students who feel comfortable ask better questions. Subject knowledge alone isn't enough — personability matters just as much.
Tutors start at £33.60/hour and move up to £41.10/hour with experience, consistent delivery, and the number of students you support. Paid monthly via PAYE.
You set your availability and the students we allocate fit around it. No fixed rotas, no minimum hours, no central scheduling team dictating your week.
AI-graded homework, a 4,600-question exam database, automated scheduling, integrated billing, Q&A with students between lessons — all built in. You teach, we handle the rest.
A three-week onboarding programme, shared tutor group for questions and advice, and a lead tutor available for coaching. You're not thrown in.
Our students are serious and well-matched before they reach you — parents go through an intro meeting and tutors are allocated by subject and level fit. Retention is high, dropouts are rare.
Strong tutors can take on more students, earn the capacity premium, or progress into senior roles (Lead Tutor, mentor roles) as the company scales.
We take hiring seriously. Expect roughly two to three weeks from application to offer.
Complete the form below with your CV and a short cover note. If your application is a fit, we'll be in touch within a week.
A short conversation about your subjects, availability, motivation, and communication style. We're filtering for obvious mismatches, not grilling you.
A structured interview with a short teaching exercise (topic given 48 hours ahead), subject knowledge check, and scenario questions. Scored on a five-dimension rubric.
We take two references, then send a written offer and contract. Successful candidates join our three-week onboarding programme before taking their first student.
We read all applications personally.
Thanks for applying. We'll read your application carefully and come back to you within a week. If your application moves forward, we'll book a 30-minute screening call.
How much will I earn?
Tutors start at £33.60/hour. Rates increase with experience, lesson volume, and how many students you support. Our most active tutors earn up to £41.10/hour. Paid monthly via PAYE.
How many hours per week can I do?
You set your own availability. Most tutors deliver 4–10 hours per week around their studies; some do considerably more. There's no minimum commitment, but we allocate more students to tutors who offer more hours.
Is it fully remote?
Yes. All lessons are online via Zoom. Tutor wherever you like, provided you have reliable internet, a quiet space, and a good microphone. A writing tablet (iPad or similar) is strongly preferred.
Do I need UK right to work?
Yes. We pay tutors through PAYE, so you need to be legally permitted to work in the UK. International students on a Tier 4/Student visa are usually eligible within visa hour limits — please check your visa conditions.
Do I need prior tutoring experience?
It helps but isn't required. We run a three-week onboarding programme covering our platform, lesson structure, and teaching style. What matters more is deep subject knowledge and a genuine ability to explain.
What subjects and levels do you cover?
GCSE and A-Level Maths, A-Level Further Maths, GCSE and A-Level Physics, IB Maths (AA and AI, SL and HL), IB Physics, and university entrance exams (MAT, STEP, PAT, TMUA, ENGAA). We don't cover other subjects, so we only hire tutors whose expertise sits here.
How long does hiring take?
Typically two to three weeks from application to offer for successful candidates. We run 2–3 formal hiring rounds per year (August/September, December/January, and ad-hoc) but applications are read year-round.
What happens after I apply?
We read every application personally. If your application is a fit, we'll invite you to a 30-minute screening call. Successful candidates then go through a 60-minute teaching-focused interview (with a short teaching exercise briefed 48 hours ahead), followed by references and a written offer.
I don't hear back — what then?
We reply to every application within a week, whether we're moving forward or not. If you haven't heard back after 10 days, please email alex@fraleytutors.com — it's likely our message was caught by a spam filter.
Fill out the form above. Takes about 15 minutes if you have your CV ready.
